The Redneck Mystic's Redneck Witch Soulmate

The Witch and I met in early 2010, in this way. I received phone calls from two friends in Birmingham, Alabama, my home town, advising me that it was all over the news that my younger brother had gone missing. A Birmingham News journalist then contacted one of my friends and asked if he thought I might be willing to be interviewed? I said okay. Before the journalist called me in Key West, where I then lived, it came to me from out of the blue that my brother had killed himself and tried to make I look like murder. I told the journalist that when he called me. He said cold chills were running up and down his spine because the same thought had come to him before he called me. I published that conversation at my goodmorningkeywest.com blog that morning (that blog is no longer active), and somehow The Witch, who lived in the countryside north of Birmingham, found that post and emailed me about it. About ten days later my brother’s body was found in a public golf course pond in Birmingham. About ten days after that, the local county medical examiner and a Birmingham Police Department detective were quoted in the Birmingham News as saying it was suicide made to look like murder.
The Witch and I corresponded by email from time to time after that. I moved back to Birmingham in 2018. By then, my Key West blog had died and gone to cyberspace heaven. Her husband died a few years later. We had a lunch in a restaurant. A year later we had another lunch in a restaurant. I had no clue she was interested in me romantically. We started eating out about once a week. I still had no clue. Early September 2024, I asked her a question one day in a text and she dropped a bag of muscadine grapes she was picking in a neighbor’s yard. I moved in with her about two weeks later, and by then I knew she was a witch, because of all the witchy art in her home and on the back window of her car was a “My broom is in the shop” decal.
After I moved in, I started waking up in the morning, looking forward to facing the day, instead of wishing the Lord had taken me in my sleep. I laughed more than I had ever laughed. I started losing weight, her cooking was both delicious and healthy. She had a vegetable garden and I love to garden and we started making her garden much larger. She sent me to doctors who helped me tremendously, one was a chiropractor, another was an MD, who specialized in nutrition and nutritional supplements. I stopped eating gluten and lactose. I'm now down to my law school weight, 185 pounds. I was at 200 lbs when I moved in. I was at 220 lbs, when I moved back to Birmingham in 2019.
After I moved in, The Witch said the burning in her stomach that had caused her to eat 5 packs of Tums a day had stopped and she quit using Tums, and she started sleeping better than she had ever slept in her life, and she started really laughing for the first time in her life. She started dreaming again, every night, and her dreams were encouraging and instructional, and sometimes were funny and sometimes were not funny. She said she had never known happiness until I moved in.
I told her that was part of what goes along with what I was taught by angels known in the Bible to call “paradise mating”, which those angels sometimes provide. Those angels are beyond religion and work with straight and non-straight couples who belong to a religion and or do not belong to a religion, to help them move closer to what I was raised to call God, which has as many names as there are stars in the heavens. The moving closer to God can be really challenging at times, and angels help us do it, mostly in dreams, but they have other ways of getting our attention..
On waking this morning, The Witch told me of a dream she had around dawn, in which I told her that I needed to work on my blog today and she would clean out her garage. Later today, she came to where I was working on my laptop and this blog and said she had found something beneath all the stuff in her garage, which she did not know was there, and it was the photo below. I burst out laughing and reminded her that just last night I had told her that sometimes the only thing that can help is The Serenity Prayer. She shot me a bird, as she tried to pretend she wasn't about to burst out laughing her ass off. It’s really dang hard for a witch not to be in charge of everything :-).
The Witch is a world-class quilter; her quilts and other fabric art paint heavens beautiful, make angels sing, enhance Spider Woman's Web. She made me a mandala quilt:

She created a quilting and fabric art website, welovequliting.blog where she shows off and tells stories about her and other quilting and fabric artists' beautiful work.
After I moved in, The Witch started writing a not for the faint of heart book about her own life, which caused many physical, emotional, psychological and soul purges in her. I came to know for a fact that she became a living saint by long-time caring for her dying husband and dying aunt in her home, and then she cared for her mother’s brother. Before all of that, The Witch had cared for her dying mother, who said she wished she had never given birth to her daughter, The Witch.
I came to know The Witch very definitely believes, nay, knows God exists, but she just as very definitely is leery of religion because of how many witches it killed.
And yes, I came to know she very definitely can cast spells, but she is more careful about who, when and where.

May 14, 2025 postscript
Recent events moved me to write a bit more about paradise mating, which is a couple walking hand in hand with God back into Eden, which is not a place but is a state of being. Along the way, the couple are tested over and over by this world and its ways, and it’s their job to stick together regardless of what life throws at them and what other people think about them.
I had learned about paradise mating in earlier relationships with women, and I wrote about it at my various blogs The Witch followed, and in two romp novels she read: KUNDALINA, ALABAMA: A Strange Tale (1991), and HEAVY WAIT: A Strange Tale (2001), and their sequels, RETURN OF THE STRANGE (2023) and KUNDALINA RESURRECTION: Return of the Pleiadeans (2024), which she also read and did a bit of fuming and cussing in parts of those tales.
Not for the faint of heart or young children, those tales are free ebooks in free internet libraries. In America, click these links:
